R507A is a long-term replacement for R-502 refrigerant (HFC-like substance) with zero ODP and no ozone-depleting substances. Because the refrigerant R507 has a very similar refrigeration capacity and efficiency to R502, and has excellent heat transfer properties and low toxicity, R507 is more suitable for low and medium temperature refrigeration applications than any other known alternative to R-502.
R507 is the same environmentally friendly refrigerant used to replace R502 as R404A, but R507 can typically reach lower temperatures than R404A.
