Product Description-R134a
As a replacement refrigerant for R12, it has many properties much like R12.
R134a has very low toxicity, is non-flammable in air and has a safety category of A1, making it a very safe refrigerant.
The chemical stability of R134a is very good, however, because its water solubility is higher than R22, it is not good for the refrigeration system, even if there is a small amount of water, under the action of lubricants, etc., it will produce acid, carbon dioxide or carbon monoxide, which will have a corrosive effect on the metal or "copper plating", so R134a requires more drying and cleaning of the system. R134a on steel, iron, copper, aluminum and other metals have not been found to have a mutual chemical reaction, only a slight effect on zinc.
Application: R 134a is one of the major refrigerant substitutes for CFC-12, and is commonly used in automotive air conditioning, commercial and industrial refrigeration systems, and as a blowing agent in the production of hard plastic insulation materials, and can also be used to configure other mixed refrigerants such as R 404a and R 407c.
